As Spring gets underway, I thought you would all be delighted to have more information on our ‘mini afternoon tea’. This is a very popular selection of miniature nibbles and cakes for you and your guests to enjoy with a cup of tea or alternatively to serve with a lovely Summer Pimms or Pink Champagne (very sophisticated!)
Perfect for Spring and Summer weddings, the miniature versions of the nation’s favourite afternoon tea delicacies are the ideal accompaniment to celebratory drinks and croquet on the lawn after your ceremony.
Tea consumption increased dramatically during the early nineteenth century and around this time the 7th Duchess of Bedford is said to have complained of “having that sinking feeling” during the late afternoon. At the time it was usual for people to have only two meals a day. The solution for the Duchess was a pot of tea and a light snack. She started sending cards to her friends asking them to join her for “tea and a walk in the fields”. Before long, all the fashionable society were sipping tea and nibbling sandwiches in the middle of the afternoon.
Create your own selection by choosing up to six options from our tailor made menu including mini scones with jam and clotted cream, glazed lemon tarts, raspberry pavlovas, warm mini quiches, assorted sandwich fingers and toasted buttered tea cakes – delicious!
