Creative ways to tell people to save the date

“Save-the-date” cards are a brilliant way to keep your friends and family in the loop about your wedding to come. Save-the-dates act as a pre-invitation, simply informing your guests that they’ll be officially invited to your big day. Save-the-date cards are the perfect heads-up, particularly for out-of-town guests that will have to make arrangements in advance to attend.

Save the date

Although save-the-date cards aren’t as integral as the wedding invitation, the advance notice will be well appreciated by guests. Save-the-dates will also help you secure the RSVPs you want long before your wedding day – great if you’re not the only one getting married in your circle, or if you’re tying the knot in high season. Most importantly, save-the-dates mark the countdown to your special day. Traditionally, save-the-dates are sent the same way as invitations, as cards through the post.

There are a variety of ways you can share the initial details of your special day with your nearest and dearest, a few of which we’ll explore in this blog post.

For the time conscious

Everything seems to be digital these days, so why shouldn’t your save-the-dates follow suit? Sending them electronically can unlock a number of advantages as Brides details:

“One of the main reasons to email your save-the-date is convenience. Traditional save-the-date cards require ordering, proofing, printing, waiting for delivery, addressing, applying postage, and physical mailing, all of which can take weeks. And since most online stationery sites (like Paperless Post, Minted, and Shutterfly’s Wedding Shop) are so easy to navigate, you can select and pay for your design within an hour flat, all with a few clicks.”

For old romantics

Sharing the love is what weddings are all about, which makes the idea of sending your save-the-dates as love letters particularly fitting. Your love letter save-the-dates may even trigger romantic flashbacks of passing love notes around the classroom at school!

For technology geeks

Cool and utterly geeky, 3D save-the-dates complete with 3D glasses are excellent touches for technology lovers. Upon opening, the save-the-date message is illegible, only becoming clear when your guest dons their 3D glasses.

For festive weddings

The advent calendar save-the-date would have been perfect for Mr & Mrs Edgar, a couple who tied the knot here at Gosfield Hall with a magical Christmas wedding. It’s not just winter weddings that will be complemented with this creative save-the-date, personalised advent calendars can be adapted for all occasions and seasons.

For music lovers

Share your love of music with your guests or give a nod to the musically themed wedding they can expect in months to come with vinyl and playlist inspired save-the-dates.
