How to have an Only Fools and Horses themed wedding

Your wedding doesn’t have to be a classic, traditional affair. Gone are the days when you had to follow strict convention. With all the planning and effort that goes into organising a wedding, you should use the opportunity to follow your own desires.

As @theknot says:

“Your wedding theme will ultimately be an expression of your personality and tastes, and it’ll determine the overall atmosphere of your wedding.”

It’s essential to choose the theme that reflects your personalities perfectly. At Gosfield Hall, we recently hosted a fantastic Only Fools and Horses themed wedding. As well as creating a truly fantastic day, this fun and iconic theme helped to transform Gosfield Hall into wedding venue that was completely unique to the loved-up couple. If you’re considering a trip to Nelson Mandela House for your big day, here are a few ideas to get you started.

Transportation

If you’ve opted for an Only Fools and Horses themed wedding, you really have no choice but to hire a good old Reliant Robin to take you to the church. You can either hire a plain car or find a company that rents Del Boy inspired motors (of which there are plenty). Ask your driver to stick around until after the ceremony so you and your new spouse can get some wedding snaps with the car centre stage.

Outfits

Many of the characters from the classic sitcom have very distinctive looks, so creating an outfit with an Only Fools and Horses theme should be easy. Go for 80s glamour in honour of Marlene and Boycie or, if you’re having a winter wedding, don a classic Del Boy sheepskin coat and stay warm and on-theme at the same time. If you want to bring an element of fancy dress to the proceedings, you could dress up as Batman and Robin, á la Del and Rodney, when you say your vows. Alternatively get the pageboys or the groomsmen to dress up for fantastic wedding snaps.

Table plan

Continue your theme into the evening by creating an Only Fools and Horses inspired wedding table plan. Name each table after a different character and create a table plan that reflects the Peckham location. As Del Boy was famous for his love of a good cocktail, you can serve up some tasty drinks as your guests wait for their dinner.

Lookalike

Go all out on your Only Fools and Horses theme by hiring a few lookalikes for your wedding reception. Find yourself a Rodney, a Del Boy, a Trigger and an Uncle Albert and give your guests an hour or two to create some sensational selfies. You could also include the lookalikes in your wedding photos for some unforgettable shots.
