Summer wedding makeup tips

Summer makeup

Every bride wants to make sure that their makeup remains flawless throughout their wedding day. A summer wedding gives you gorgeous weather for perfect wedding photographs, but your makeup has heat, sun, and hours of dancing to contend with. Read on for our top tips on how to achieve flawless summer bridal makeup, and how to keep it going strong all through your ceremony and evening celebrations.

Long lashes

Long, lush lashes look gorgeous all year round and are perfect for framing your eyes in your wedding photos. We suggest opting for some natural looking false lashes: Ardell do some lovely, fluttery individual lashes that will look like your own lashes, only better. Securing your lashes on with a premium lash glue, such as Duo (a makeup artist favourite), will ensure that your lashes stay put all day long. Applying false lashes need not be a hassle – just be sure to practice a few times before the day, for perfect eye makeup. Layering your lashes with a thickening and lengthening mascara will complete the look: opt for a waterproof mascara, which won’t budge or sweat off in the heat.

Glowing skin

Summer is a good time for light makeup, which won’t sweat off or appear cakey in the heat. Opting for a tinted moisturiser or BB cream, with a dewy base will give you a natural glow: perfect for summer. Priming and moisturising your face before applying, will help your makeup appear smooth and help it to last in the summer heat.

If you would prefer to go for a full face of makeup, just be sure to set your makeup with a powder and a setting spray, such as ModelCo Beauty Fix or Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray. Powder and setting spray will keep your makeup in place throughout the day.

Bronzer and highlighter will complete that healthy summertime look: subtle, glowing, and sunkissed. Bronzer should be applied where the sunshine would naturally hit your face: the forehead, the cheeks, the nose, and the chin. Highlighter is best applied on the top of the cheek bones, the brow bone, the nose, and the forehead, for a natural glow. Powder highlighter and bronzer will fare better in the sunshine and will likely hold-up throughout the day and evening celebrations.

To complete your base makeup, go for a blush in powder form or a cheek-stain, as these formulas have great lasting power.

Budge-proof lipstick

You’ve found your perfect lipstick shade, but how do you make your lipstick stay-put all throughout the ceremony and the after-party? Start by priming your lips with a light touch of concealer, then follow this with a lining of the lips in a matching lip pencil. These two steps will keep your lipstick looking fresh all day and night.

Fool-proof summer makeup

As Good Housekeeping magazine note: “Summer is full of wonderful things — but melting makeup, smeared eyeliner, and super-sticky lipstick are not among them”. Thanks to our top makeup tips, you should avoid the summer make-up meltdown and look gorgeous in all of your wedding photos.
